UTV Charging System Parts

When you turn the key on your UTV, you want it to fire right up. Unfortunately, problems in the charging system can happen, leaving you with a dead battery and a machine that is stranded. The charging system is comprised of the battery, stator, and regulator/rectifier. The biggest symptom of a failing charging system is that the battery will not charge while the engine is running, yet the battery will charge fine on a battery charger. Both a failed stator and regulator/rectifier can cause this problem. The best way to diagnose which part is failing is to test each with a multimeter and check against the specs of your service manual.
