Make sure that your bike will stop when you need it to by equipping it with the best motorcycle brake pads or shoes. With the right brake pads installed, you can smoothly slow and stop your motorcycle with ease. When the pads and shoes become worn, your stopping times increase and you may also experience excessive vibration. Worn pads can also damage your rotors if left unattended for too long enough. You can choose to replace your worn pads and shoes with direct replacements or you can opt to upgrade to high performance pads (and rotor) to be able to handle the heat and stresses of riding fast and braking hard and often.

It’s important to know the difference between sintered, organic, semi-sintered and ceramic brake pads before you choose your replacements. Sintered brake pads are a great option for high performance motorcycles because they are designed to hold up to extreme heat and stress. They do require specific rotors, though, so be sure you have rotors that are compatible with sintered pads before purchasing. Organic pads offer great “feel” for riders and are compatible with many rotors. Semi-sintered offer a good compromise between the two. If you have polished aluminum or chrome plated rotors, ceramic brake pads are what you are after because they will not damage the finish of the rotor. You can learn more about the different types of brake pads in our Motorcycle Brake Pad Guide.
