    Lectron Fuel Systems HD300 Carburetor

For Harley Models  76-96 Cubic  Inch Motors

We have made our product much more refined and user friendly with our new Gen II 4 Stroke kits. These kits include a 2 bolt S&S style adapter, a 3 bolt air cleaner adapter (dual drilled for fit with OEM or S&S air cleaners), shims for the heads, and a throttle cable.

The improved carburetors are equipped with a dedicated, externally adjustable, idle circuit for a more precise and consistent idle. We have also developed HD specific metering rods for extremely smooth power on the street. Our metering rod and externally adjustable Power Jet still takes the place of jets, needles, accelerator pumps, and other headaches.

These carburetors come pretuned from the factory and once setup for your riding style and personal preference, you never have to touch them again! This is thanks to our metering rod:

The metering rod is similar to a needle in a traditional carburetor, but with a grind profile on the side facing the engine. These are preset and rarely need adjustment in the Harley carburetors. The metering rod uses the vacuum from the engine to create a low pressure signal behind the flat side of the rod (think about throwing a rock in a stream - the low pressure area is directly behind the rock - then add vacuum to it). Based on the density of the air, the proper amount of fuel will get pulled up the metering rod regardless of elevation, temperature, humidity, etc. The atmospheric conditions constantly change, but the physics stay the same! This means you always have the right tune. If you plan to ride to ride from Florida to Colorado, the only tuning you may have to do is adjusting your idle!

Another advantage of the metering rod include its ability to finely atomize the fuel. The fuel coming off the metering rod is in much finer particles than those coming out of a jet. Combined with always having the right tune, the fuel itself is easier to burn. This leads to better throttle response, better fuel economy, and better power. Riders have reported getting an increase of 40 more miles per tank!

Below is a picture of the metering rod on a flow bench for demonstration purposes. Notice the metering rod it is on the side of the slide that is always under vacuum. Fuel is always loaded in the pickup tube which means we get excellent throttle response without an accelerator pump!

The fuel screw is an externally adjustable circuit that works with idle screw to achieve the proper AFR at and immediately off idle. It is the main adjustment for low and closed throttle positions. This feature allows Harleys to idle low and consistently. It is also helpful when adding basic modifications like a higher flowing air filter or after market pipes that could create a lean condition like popping on decel. If that happens, you simply open your fuel screw!

The power jet is the externally adjustable screw on the top of the carburetor. It works like a faucet (tighten it to restrict flow - lean out, loosen to increase flow - richen up). Once the slide rises above the bottom of the nozzle (about half throttle), the power jet is your main adjustment. This adjustment is important for fine tuning, so you can independently adjust your top end without altering your low throttle response.

    WHY LECTRON?

    • Known for making strong, consistent power, Lectron dominates sports like two-stroke motocross, enduro, and drag racing. They aren’t in business to be second best and have pre-tuned kits that are ready to install with minimal adjusting.

    Simplicity:

    • Lectron carburetors have no jets and the least parts of any carburetor. They compensate automatically for a wide range of elevation and temperature changes, which equates to less time fixing and tuning, and more time riding.

    Adjustability:

    • Lectron is the only metering rod fuel system with two circuits. This means no harsh transitions compared to a jetted carburetor, while still having two independently adjustable circuits for bottom end and top end. You can run leaner metering rods for crisp response off idle while making massive peak horsepower numbers.

    Better Fuel Atomization:

    • The fuel coming off the metering rod is in much finer particles than fuel coming out of a jet. This creates a much more efficient and even burn, which helps make more power, use less fuel, decrease emissions, and help prevent fouling spark plugs.

    Throttle Response:

    • The smooth, tapered bore design creates the fastest airspeeds of any carburetor. Unlike a choked down keyhole design, Lectron products are designed to flow the most air at the highest velocity and are the only carburetor with the fuel pickup tube always under vacuum (on the engine side of the slide). It’s always full of fuel, and adjusting float height for throttle response is a thing of the past.

Note: Throttle cable fits 96-up push-in type control
