It's important to know when you should replace your slides. Many sets have a wear mark or line in the plastic. Once the slide is worn down to that mark, you should get new ones to keep protecting the rails. If for some reason there is not a wear mark, check your owner's manual to see what the minimal thickness is for your model sled.
Long track snowmobiles tend to go through hyfax at a faster rate than ones with short tracks. In riding conditions with hard packed or little know, the extra length heats up the slides much faster and can actually cause them to melt. If you have a long track, be sure to monitor the condition of your slides much more often. Ice scratchers can help prolong the life of slides and also aid in engine cooling.
Some slides may be longer than you actually need. You can simply cut them down to the length that they need to be. They will have all of the necessary mounting holes pre-drilled and countersunk to make installation easy.
