Shop the Best Snowmobile Boots
Don't let cold feet slow you down or end your ride too soon. Your feet are the furthest extremity from your heart and are often the first to get cold. Heat exchangers help a little, but the most protection is going to come from your snowmobile boots. That's why we carry the best and warmest snowmobile boots at Dennis Kirk. You can ride longer when your feet are nice and toasty.
There are certain aspects of a snowmobile boot that sets them apart from regular boots. Top brands like Klim, FXR, HMK and Baffin have nailed down the construction and style aspects that go into making a warm and protective pair of boots for snowmobiling.
Waterproof breathable materials like Gore-Tex® work to remove excess perspiration from your feet without allowing any outside moisture from entering. This, combined with the latest insulation (Thinsulate and Merino wool) and sealed seams, will keep your feet warm in almost all conditions. If you ride in extreme conditions, be sure the cold rating will be low enough. Many of the warmest snowmobile boots are rated for well below zero temperatures.
Protection is also an important factor when choosing a good pair. Boots that are made for snowmobiling are reinforced in the ankle and can have extra cushioning on toes and heels. Reinforced toe and heel kicks resist wear and allow you to easily clear ice and snow from the tread. Anti-slip soles help you to stay connected to your running boards at all times.

Snowmobile Boots FAQ
How should snowmobile boots fit?
Snowmobile boots should fit snugly without pinching. A close fit keeps warmth in and improves control, but your toes should still be able to wiggle. Avoid sizing up too much for thick socks, as excess space can cause cold spots.
How much insulation do I need for my riding conditions?
For trail riding, 600–800 grams of insulation is usually plenty. Mountain and backcountry riders often choose lighter boots for mobility, while extreme cold conditions may call for boots with over 800 grams or removable liners for added warmth.
Are all snowmobile boots waterproof?
Most snowmobile boots are waterproof, but not all to the same degree. Look for rubber lowers, sealed seams, and waterproof/breathable membranes. The breathable membrane will help wick any moisture out of the boot. Models with removable liners also help manage moisture and keep your feet dry through long rides.
What’s the difference between BOA dials and traditional laces?
BOA systems tighten evenly with a turn of the dial and are quick to adjust with gloves on. They also reduce the risk of snagging on the sled. Traditional laces offer a more customizable fit and are easy to repair in the field if something breaks. Both styles have strong followings among riders.
Can I walk or move comfortably in snowmobile boots?
For the most part, yes. Most modern snowmobile boots are designed for both riding and mobility. Trail-focused and race boots do tend to be stiffer for support, while mountain and backcountry models are lighter and more flexible for walking, digging, and short hikes.
