Dirt Bike Gas Cans, Fuel Containers & Accessories

Whether you’re at the track or out riding single-track from a trailhead, ending your day because you ran out of gas can be a real bummer. Having a supply of fuel on hand with a high-quality dirt bike fuel container will ensure that you can keep riding all day long. Not all containers are the same, though. A standard gas can used to haul gas is not going to be great for races. But race gas cans are typically not approved for hauling gas over the road. Be sure to choose which can is right for your situation. We have both styles at Dennis Kirk.

Volume and the ability to pour with ease are two of the biggest factors when considering a dirt bike gas can. In race situations, a wide mouth with good venting is essential to refuel quickly. Shaving seconds off of a refuel can mean ending on top of the podium or not. Well-placed handles and grips are also essential to efficient refueling. Choose a can with handles that will provide an excellent grip on the can. Some cans will also automatically stop pouring when the tank is full to help prevent overfilling.

Over the years, there have been many new restrictions and laws imposed on fuel containers. Spill proof, self-sealing spouts are mandatory to pass many of these restrictions. Choosing an EPA, ASTM, and CARB compliant dirt bike fuel container will ensure that you are always above board. These gas cans get a bad rap for not pouring quickly, but a wide mouth can will pour much faster so you can get back out riding in no time. Many race day fuel cans are not approved for fuel transport. The quick-filling nature of these containers are great for getting back on the track, but you will need to transfer fuel in another container that is approved by the EPA, ASTM, and/or CARB.

Once you choose your dirt bike gas can, be sure to get the most out of it with the best fuel can accessories. Carrying racks and straps help you haul all your fuel cans safely and give you quick access when you need them. Fuel transfer pumps and siphons allow you to fill your dirt bike without having to lift the can so you can save your back for riding. Different spouts and funnels will also help to keep the fuel in the tank and off your bike.
