The High Efficiency 5A Battery Tender Plus has been a favorite for many powersports fanatics for years. This charger is fully automatic. Just hook it up to your battery and let it do work. The charger comes equipped with both alligator clips and a quick connect ring terminal harness. Both setups are fitted with a 7.5-amp inline fuse for protection. Use the alligator clips for use on multiple machines and use the quick connect harness for repeated use on your machine.

So what has changed with the High Efficiency 5A Battery Tender Plus? The influx of Lithium batteries in the powersports world required new charging technology. Previous generations of the Battery Tender Plus were not compatible with Lithium batteries. But with their rise in popularity, they knew they had to update the charger to accommodate Lithiums. Lithium batteries have different requirements, including charging voltage, cell balancing during phases of charging, and no need for a “float” charge.

What hasn’t changed is the reliability and convenience of this charger. In addition to now being able to charge Lithiums, it will still charge all lead acid batteries, including flooded, maintenance-free, AGM, and gel. No matter the type, you are able to just connect the charger and just forget about it. With the correct profiles selected, the Battery Tender Plus will charge the battery to full and then shutoff/maintain as needed. And if you are curious of the status, a solid state two-color LED shows the batteries current charging status.

The Battery Tender Plus has built-in protection to ensure damage does not occur to the battery or the charger itself. The lead connection is spark-proof and the charger will automatically detect reverse polarity if you have the leads swapped. The charger will not turn on if this is detected. When a lead acid battery reaches full charge, the charger will go into a float mode to maintain proper charge levels without overcharging. The charger will automatically shut down when a lithium reaches full charge.
