What’s your daily rider? Is it a new bike fresh off the showroom floor? Is it an old faithful that you know like the back of your hand? A daily rider is usually a bike that you can depend on, yet enjoy riding wherever you go. It can look a lot different for many different riders.
For Garage Builder Scott Morris, his daily rider is a bike much older than himself. Scott takes his 1946 Knucklehead on rides all over the country, from his home in Ohio to the Black Hills of South Dakota. It may leak some fluids and it may not win any races, but it gets him there none the less. Scott entered his Knucklehead in the last Sturgis Garage Build Show and took him the prize for Best Daily Rider.
See our interview with Scott below as he talks about and shows off his 1946 Harley Knucklehead build.

Hi, my name is Scott Morris. I’m 52 years old from Bucyrus, Ohio. I’ve been riding motorcycle since 1974. starting out on the Yamaha 60 Mini Enduro. I grew up in a Harley-Davidson family. My grandfather was a Harley dealer from 1946 to 1969 in Bucyrus. I bought my first Harley when I was 16.
I came across this Knucklehead motor 7 years ago at, down in Daytona Beach at Bill Dodge’s shop. I purchased it from Bill. I had it for about a year before I bought the frame and the front end. It took me about two and a half years to come up with all the pieces and parts. $35,000 later, this is what I have.
I’ve been riding it for 6 years now. I ride it to the Black Hills. it’s been to Devil’s Tower, Mount Rushmore, Needles Highway. It’s fun to ride. It’s old, it’s slow, it leaks oil, it leaks gas, but I tell you what, I love it. It’s the same bike my grandpa used to ride. Same bike my father used to ride.
I put it in the Dennis Kirk show because Roadside Marty, a great friend of mine, he goes, “hey, we’re going up to the show, got to put your bike in.”
It’s always a good time, great turnout, a lot of bikes, a lot of great friends, always a good time here in Sturgis. You get some swag and just shoot the breeze with everybody. It’s always a good time.
