“Wayne Morgan, Douglasville, Georgia. It’s a 1955 Servi-Car. We put a 2000 Sportster engine, motor mounts and all underneath it. A guy was actually going to throw it away. He was going to throw the bike away and I said let me have a shot at it and it took about a year and a half to build. And finding the parts was the hardest thing. But other than that, it’s been a lot of fun building it.
The hardest part? The front end. Trying to get the front end to line up and everything else in the ‘50 engine in. The actual rear was pretty easy. The welding, the maintenance, the mounts and everything was probably the hardest part. But more than anything else, was finding parts for the Servi-Car.
My father owned a welding shop so that’s where I learned how to weld. Yeah, I mean most of the frames built other than the rear part. The rest of it was built by hand, just bending, heating and all that stuff. But overall, you know it was- try this, try that. See what works. See what didn’t work.
It’s really one of a portable garage. It’s more like, looks like a single wide trailer, really. You’ve seen the kinds that they throw off of, what they call those, storage container. That’s what it is. It’s a garage. Got the air compressor and the air conditioner and that thing in there. That’s about it.
Yeah, so it came in handy. I mean, I think we paid like 1500 bucks for it so that’s for our garage sitting out in the middle of a three-and-a-half-acre field. That’s about it.
It looks good but the jock shift is really kind of neat. But my God, it’ll wear you out. I mean, it’s, you wouldn’t want to ride it home for you, I promise you that. It looks good but it don’t ride worth a flip.
So, that’s being honest about it. I actually had four Street Glides and a Sportster. I did have a Sportser way back when, a Fat Boy. My wife, she’s had like all Deluxes. A bunch of Deluxes and Tri-Glides and I was going to get a Tri-Glide and when I bought hers, saw how much it was I thought, well, I better just build my own. So, that’s what I put on the application. I couldn’t afford a Tri-Glide, so I built this thing. I’m Wayne Morgan. I’m from Douglasville, Georgia and I’m a Dennis Kirk Builder.”
