2017 Harley Davidson Breakout

What was your intended objective when you started the build?

To build a fast and clean looking bike and one that is very comfortable.

What motivated you to start your project?

I did not like the sound of the bike and the handle bars I could not see out of the mirrors. The bike was uncomfortable as well so I went decided to start with the engine and kill the chrome along the way. I read about the tire shredder kit and then it started to motivate me.  I did this throughout the winter of 2017-2018. Completing the fuel injection tune in May of 2018.

What was the most unique and creative thing you did to the bike?

The handlebars and LED lighting throughout. I ran into a problem with handlebar manufactures because the breakout has a 1.25 inch diameter for the risers where other risers throughout HD are 1″. I contacted Vandicta in California and we went to town on a new bar.

The LED lighting was difficult because of CAN BUS electrics. Pulling the wires through the bars was difficult because the electrical connections are very small and not robust. Therefore, everyone had to be disassembled.  The LED’s under the fender and license plate mount was difficult as well because CAN BUS can cause you an error code on your speedo because it can detect an offset in the amperage.

What are you most proud of?

Removing all of the chrome from almost everywhere and black powder coating everything at 90% gloss gave the bike an incredible look with the 12 point chrome Gardner Wescott screws throughout the entire bike.

What do other people say about your motorcycle?

Speechless
