2013 Triumph Scrambler

What was your intended objective when you started the build?

I knew when I bought the bike I needed a motorcycle that would re road worthy 365 days a year. Within the first 36 months of ownership it covered over 65,000+ miles and over 365 consecutive riding days. After that challenge I wanted to evolve it into a more race-worthy bike.

What motivated you to start your project?

After watching Icon’s “Raiden Files – Portland to Dakar” I was bit by the ADV bug, but I wanted to build a scrambler that could race, not an ADV bike

What was the most unique and creative thing you did to the bike?

Dirt bike fenders and hand crafted front sprocket cover. I wanted to shed weight from the sprocket cover along with making it easy for mud to clean out, so I chopped it with a band saw and went to work with the drill press and grinder. Same went for fenders, I wanted to ditch the metal junk o the rear end, and found a good t for a Suzuki fender on the rear and built a brake light assembly to match.

What are you most proud of?

I built a Scrambler to hare scramble and she won round 1 of Kentucky Cross-Country Racing’s (KXCR) ADV class.

What do other people say about your motorcycle?

With 80,000 miles on the odometer, that bike has seen a lot of action.
