2007 Harley-Davidson FLHTPI

What was your intended objective when you started the build?

To be as fast as I could afford to be.

What motivated you to start your project?

Always have been competitive. Have ridden motorcycles for a long time. Rode sport bikes and wanted to get on the race track. After working at a dealership I bought a harley and have been on Harleys ever since. I thought the Harley would still be fun to ride around the track. Right after the first king of the baggers race I saw an opportunity to ride the bike at a local track day. That was Nov 11th 2020 I believe. After I was finished with my first track day I was hooked. I have been all in since that day. 6 track days later and several thousand dollars more to the bike. It is at a place it could be competitive in some of these races.

What was the most unique and creative thing you did to the bike?

Making my own mid controls. None of the mid controls out there would work with my exhaust. I also wanted to get my feet up higher. So I just looked at some of the sets. Made some cardboard templates. Then started cutting them out of 1/8th in plate. Buddy of mine welded one side on and the other side I used a suzuki peg and mount. With a brake lever attached. Then bought a Hyabusa brake master cylinder and remove reservoir to match the Hyabusa rear brake caliper and rear wheel. There are a few custom pieces on this bike.

What are you most proud of?

Setting up the Hyabusa front wheel conversion. Had a friend make me some spacers and drill them out to space the discs out to match the calipers. Then I made the wheel spacers and spaced the calipers to center on the disc. I used an A1 rear swingarm and Hyabusa wheel conversion kit to mount the rear wheel. It went together well. But there are some items that do not fit any longer. Some fab things needed to get bags back on and my wife’s back rest.

What do other people say about your motorcycle?

The front wheel looks so little. Bike looks crazy!! Why would you do that? Where is your windshield?
