My initial objective was to just clean out all the metal shavings from the failed bearing swap and put it back stock. But as I started learning more about upgrades, I decided to put a little money in the bike mainly for reliability purposes. Installed flat top SE 95ci pistons, had the heads ported and polished, jugs bored to fit 95ci pistons, SE hydraulic cam plate/oil pump, andrews 37b cams, S&S quickee pushrods and new seals all around the bike.
My bike was a stock twin cam 88, I was performing an inner cam bearing change when the collet of the tool used for pulling damaged the race, causing the roller bearing cage to break. I was then forced to split the cases and clean it out.
The paint job is pretty unique. $8 spray cans from Lowe’s with about a gallon of clear coat turned out pretty killer. I also painted the jugs black to give the bike an old school shovel head feel. The rear fender is off a 90s FLH and the front fender is from a softail springer.
The thing I am most proud of regarding this build is everything I learned in the process. This was my first teardown/rebuild and I did all the work myself with a trusty manual and help from the internet.
I’m not sure what people think honestly. Probably “look at that nut job on the gilded harley!”

oh god, a twin cam hot rod….
dude, the twin cams were a victory motorcycles freak out….H-D whipped that up and tooled for it in record time….What I Mean Is, I Am Worried About Your Crank, with that much more power going through it ….. that’s why that bearing hashed out ….did you get the crank trued and locked down ???
oh, that was a Cam bearing change… oh man, i know this dude that had so much into a twin cam like that, making good over the top power, and he spun his crank….just trashed… the guy’s mind shattered into a million pieces, and he got a gold wing….that bad !!!
