What was your intended objective when you started the build?

Pretty much what you see but even more retro looking

What motivated you to start your project?

Always want a retro styled scrambler

What was the most unique and creative thing you did to the bike?

Paint that gas tank, which came from an old Suzuki street bike. After that, maybe the side covers.

What are you most proud of?

That it just looks fun..!

What do other people say about your motorcycle?

As I said earlier, they call it the Captain America bike. And almost everyone thinks it’s a lot older that 1997.

Fondly known as: Steve McQueen, Retro Scrambler, though others refer to it as Captain America
Time spent: Two years on and o
Motorcycle cost: $900
Money spent: $3000ish
Engine: Yamaha 225
Intake: Stayed with factory carb but with a bigger jet. Only removed a small portion of intake, just enough to increase airflow.
Exhaust: Delkevic aftermarket exhaust. Refurbished all other exhaust parts.
Transmission: 5 speed manual clutch, EZ pull lever.
Frame: Stock so there would be no issues going trail riding.
Suspension: Stock, all new seals and refurbished the shock tubes.
Wheels, tires and brakes: Stock but upgraded where possible.
Finish – Paint: Bike was stripped down to the frame and the frame was repainted in my front yard. I painted the tank in my shed. I designed the graphics and either painted or had a local shop make for me. Ended up panting tank twice because the clear didn’t adhear.
Accessories: I designed the seat, mock up was made from wood and cardboard. Had a local guy make it. I fabled all the lights, everything had to be different because I had gotten rid of all the original fenders, lights, and related. I used the old instrument panel but had to fad a cover plate.
