1997 Buell M2 Cyclone

What was your intended objective when you started the build?

I wanted it to be more comfortable and yet look good. I just kept changing things until I had the bike I wanted.

What motivated you to start your project?

I liked the concept of a Harley that handles well and doesn’t feel like a tractor.

What was the most unique and creative thing you did to the bike?

I came up with the idea of what I call “3D” flames. I’ve never seen them done on any other bike-or car for that matter. I masked off the flames then applied automotive two stage seam sealer where the flames will be. Before the sealer dried I unmasked it leaving the flames input a1/6 of an inch above the surface. Then I scuffed and painted it.

What are you most proud of?

Besides the flames, it would have to be the color combination. Candy blue, candy red and gold spice with flat clear. I painted the engine cylinders with Cerakote Black and the cases with a special mix bronze with flat clear.

What do other people say about your motorcycle?

People want to know what it is because Buells aren’t all that common anymore. The colors always draw comments. A lot of people say it looks fast.
