1990 Harley Davidson FXLR

What was your intended objective when you started the build?

Build the bike as close to Mickey Rourkes 98 stroker seen very few times in the film.  The original stroker from the poster not the stunt bike or the bike transformed by Chuck Zito into whatever it is today.

What motivated you to start your project?

In 1991 I was 15 years old and I saw the movie Harley Davidson and the Marlboro Man, and I wanted that bike.  Took me 30 years to save up and realize I’m never gonna have enough money for this bike by saving, and I’m 45 years old it’s time to be better dead and cool than alive and uncool and started building.

What was the most unique and creative thing you did to the bike?

Used a twin cam engine instead of the evo for cleanliness and maintenance, used a 23″ 40 spoke rim and tire, unique fender decals and derby cover.

What are you most proud of?

That I believe it is the closest to Mickeys original stroker bike than any other in the world period.  That in all the replica bikes built I own one of the top 5 in the world according to some very knowledgeable and influential people, and that this was my first attempt to build a bike from a bare frame up.  Every bolt, wire and part has touched my fingers and my hands are the only two which have fabricated and wrenched and wired on my bike.

What do other people say about your motorcycle?

“Sickest FXR ever”.
