1987 Harley-Davidson FXRT

What was your intended objective when you started the build?

A fun project for me and my buddy to make a cool ol skool looking bar hopper.Stock HD

What motivated you to start your project?

Timing. Recently I retired and this old guy on my block said he knows I ride and he had an old bike that’s been under a blanket for ten years in his garage that he wanted to get rid of. It was a 1987 Harley Davidson FXRT he had converted into a Heritage. We agreed on a price and the next day I pushed it down to my house. Got it running in a week and rode it to my buddy’s house where all the work was done every Friday over seven weeks.

What was the most unique and creative thing you did to the bike?

Putting a springer front end on this FXR. I always liked how a springer get looked and figured this was the perfect opportunity to have one. All my younger “Dyna Bro” buddy’s hate that I did it.

What are you most proud of?

That all the work was done by my best friend of close to thirty years with a some help from me in his garage with our hands. And I love the way it turned out.

Great looking bike, I was like that looks a lot like my buddies bike, then I read the story of the build and I was like it has to be Russ’s Project build. Yup lol
