1983 Harley-Davidson FXRT

What was your intended objective when you started the build?

Restore the bike and get it running and looking nice like it did back in the day.

What motivated you to start your project?

Restore bike

What was the most unique and creative thing you did to the bike?

My brother hand painted decals on the side of the tank and oil case. My son and I decided to keep those two pieces on the bike to give it more character and it also has a cool backstory/memory along with it.

What are you most proud of?

Back in 1983, I went with my brother when he purchased this bike brand new. He’s had it ever since, until 1 year ago when he passed the bike on to me. The bike has sat for the past 10 years and once my son and I get the bike running, I can eventually pass it on to my son.

What do other people say about your motorcycle?

“That’s cool!” “Old School” Not too many FXR’s on the road.

This is what my bike used to look like when it was new. The fairing and luggage on your bike is now worth more than my entire motorcycle! Mine kind of looks like a Low Rider now…I just got Arlen Ness side covers. It’s nice to see an FXRT like yours… still in such great original condition. Great job keeping a classic on the road. I love the oil tank graphics. No mushroom heads? LOL
