Make, Model & Year: 1982 Harley Davidson FXE
Engine: 1982 Shovelhead with stock crank with 3 5/8″ bore S&S cylinders, pistons, and heads. The motor also uses Jims lifters and lifter bodies and an S&S camshaft. The motor was expertly built by Huntington Choppers in Bristol, VT.
Intake: S&S Super E carburetor with a polished aluminum, raised letter, “S&S Cycle” air cleaner.
Exhaust: Thunderheader muffler with stock 1982 head pipes, modified to clear the rear footboard mount. The anti-reversion cone off the Thunderheader also sports a homemade fishtail. The exhaust also uses NOS brass shark’s teeth fins that mount around the tops of the headers.
Transmission: Stock 4-speed transmission with Andrew’s gears.
Frame: Frame is a bone stock, original FXE swing-arm frame with tabs added to the swing-arm to mount the fender supports and a footboatd tab welded to the right side of the frame, itself.
Suspension: The rear shocks are 11″ Progressive Suspension shocks. The rear swingarm is the stock 1973-86 four speed type, with tabs welded on it to support the fender braces.
Wheels, tires and brakes: Bike still uses the stock 1982 FXE brakes by Kelsey-Hayes. The wheels are stock, FLH 16″ with Buchanan stainless steel spokes with the rims and hubs powder coated black.
Finish – Paint: Paint is basic, shiny, black with the 1936-1939 with the stock Harley-Davidson flying wheel decals on the gas tanks.
Accessories: The seat is a heavily modified, sprung, Le Pera solo seat with an owner made invisible front seat mount. Hand controls are stock 1982 FX units that the owner stripped the paint off and polished to a mirror shine. The owner also beveled the square, inside shoulders of the bracket clamps so that they matched the stock outside bevels. The owner used reproduction -26 style, Harley-Davidson buttons that he cutdown the housings and drilled new screw holes in. The front master cylinder retains the stock brake light switch with a homemade aluminum cover. The front fender is a stock, Evo Sportster fender that has been split and widened to fit over the wider, 16″ FLH front wheel and tire. Dash is a reproduction of the Type I 1939 dashboard with the “V” instead of the later smooth type, with a NOS WLA, brass ignition switch and a NOS Eagle Iron, tombstone face speedometer. NOS AMF 3 1/2 gallon FatBob tanks with a Goolan petcock. Horn cover is the 1931-1934 Sunburst that was left unplated brass. Taillight is an original 1968-1972 style light. The rear fender is a stock Super Glide with the apron cut off and homemade braces welded to the inside. Many custom brass pieces accentuate the motorcycle. Footboards are reproductions of the 1940-1965 half moon type with HD rubbers. Huntington Choppers built the coil mount to stealthily mount the second coil for the dual plugged S&S heads.
