Specifics

Classification: Bolt-on/Daily Rider
Make, Model & Year: 1981 Honda Cb650c
Fondly known as: Haven’t named it yet
Time spent: Probably around 60-80 hours and still counting
Motorcycle cost: Bought the bike for $500
Money spent: I’ve spent about 4K so far.
Engine: It’s a 650cc 4cylinder single overhead cam. All stock for now. But it had been completely torn down and resealed, painted and polished by myself.
Intake: It had the original cv carbs on it right now. If removed the intake system and will be jetting and installing pod filters. I hear the cv carbs are a pain to mess with so I may need to upgrade my carb system. We will see!
Exhaust: I am not sure of the brand exhaust that came on it when I bought it, but it has a after marked 4-1 right now. It will be changed some day. I’m not sure if I’m going to keep a 4-1 or go to a 2-1 and drop it in front of the rear tire on both sides! I’m scared Not knowing which will sound better!
Transmission: Original 5 speed system
Frame: 81 cb 650 frame
Suspension: 2010 zx-10 front forks. 88 Honda hawk rear swingarm with a Buell lighting monoshock which is to long and will be changed to a shorter shock.
Wheels, tires and brakes: The rear wheel is a 5 spike single side off a Triumph sprint st1050 which I had to shave down the hub to fit alignment properly. Front wheel is a 10 spoke off of a Aprilia RSV4 Tuono. The calipers on front are the brembo that came with the front forks and same for the rear caliper.
Finish – Paint: The engine, frame and swing arm has been painted satin black. The tank is the original paint from factory which I wanted to keep for the classic look. The Honda badge will be redone. The wheels are black for now but will eventually be painted gold to match the front forks and pin striping on the tank.
Accessories: I bought new clip-on handles that will have drop mirrors and turn signals on the ends. Tail light is integrated into the rear frame where I cut the frame and made a loop. I have smaller 2″ Drag TAC and speedometer. M-unit blue that will be installed to eliminate all the old wiring. I’ve also customs make my own electrical tray to hold everything and run the wiring through the frame. I have not picked out a headlight yet.
