1980 Yamaha SR250

What was your intended objective when you started the build?

Do a nice mild cafe racer conversion to the SR250, keep it solid and dependable, and most do all the work myself (i’m retired and wanted a nice project to build).

What motivated you to start your project?

After a vacation to London England last year and seeing some nice cafe racers was my inspiration, I live in Tennessee, cafe are not “common” here in Tennesse, thare are a few though.

What was the most unique and creative thing you did to the bike?

Most proud of color choice and and seat (i did the seat myself, roll & pleat custom cover).

What are you most proud of?

At 69 years old, I wanted a summer project to work on and found that project in the bone stock SR250 (a very low mileage very well maintained motorcycle with lots of potential), I’m proud that I took on this build and the finished bike is very presentable.

What do other people say about your motorcycle?

Mixed reviews so far, everyone likes the craftsmanship and quality of the build, most like it overall, a few say a Yamaha. … It’s all good.

This is my first build in over 40 years, it was like starting all over again, spray painting, mechanical upgrades, etc. Hoping to find a decent early Triumph this winter fro next summers project.
