Something that showed that 60s style but could still function as a daily rider.
I enjoy every style of chopper out there, but my soft spot is that 60’s style. Simple and clean (K.I.S.S.). I was at a point where my daily rider no longer fit my style and I was ready to build something that truly showed who I am. When I found a decent foundation to start with, WI winter was just around the corner so it was the perfect timing to begin a new project. A project that I could say I did everything myself.
I wanted to keep it clean, so I did all the wiring internally throughout the frame. I also wanted everything to flow but still keep it simple and not go overboard. All the electrical wires, plug wires and oil lines were done to match. Simple but noticable. I also love narrow front ends, so making that all come together.
The history of the bike. While building it I learned of the infamous ’79 mismatch. Basically during the production from 1/9/79 – 2/7/79, the engine and frames were purposely mismatched. The frame VIN’s affected are 43000H9 through 48199H9. These models had engines numbered with a separate “crankcase number” instead of the frame’s VIN. This engine number a ten digit numeric ID. Harley went back to the old numbering sequence once the legal ramifications were realized. This is one of those bikes, so I knew I had to keep it as stock as possible.
Simple, but clean.
