1972 Norton Commando

What was your intended objective when you started the build?

I wanted to live out one of my bucket list dreams.

What motivated you to start your project?

For as long as I can remember, I always wanted to own a Norton Commando. Once I set my mind to getting one, everything started to fall into place. I wanted a bike that needed to be brought back to life. This way, I was forced to go through every system and make sure that it was factory correct and safe to ride.

What was the most unique and creative thing you did to the bike?

I made changes to the bike that make you stop and stare. The seat, rims, and painted fenders give the bike an aggressive look without destroying the classic heritage.

What are you most proud of?

I took a bike that most people would have walked away from, and turned it into something that I was proud to own. I also polished, laced, and trued both wheels in my garage.

What do other people say about your motorcycle?

Most everyone tell me stories about friends or family that owned a Norton. Many regret selling the Commando that they once owned.

Engine: 750 cc twin parallel. This is the high compression “combat” engine.
Intake: Twin 32mm carburetors.
Exhaust: Factory original pea shooters.
Transmission: Original 4 speed
Frame: Stock Norton
Suspension: Stock Norton
Wheels, tires and brakes: 19″ drop center front rim with polished stainless spokes. 16″ drop center rear rim, also with polished spokes.
Finish – Paint: I did all of the body and paint work in my garage. Base coat, clear coat.
Accessories: I installed lower profile handle bars and a Corbin gunslinger single seat.
