I have a 65 Bonneville Bobber, “Pearl”, I had built and wanted to build an equally nice but distinctively different twin to her. So I built “Penny”.
I had totaled this bike when a guy pulled out of his driveway and stopped blocking our lane of traffic leaving me know where to go. I was determined to build this bike back better than before.
The “rootbeer float” inspired color combo I think is pretty unique. Along with the fact that I have discreetly included two 1965 pennies on the frame. (The original motor before being rebuilt had a penny glued to it covering the speedometer pickup and it happened to be from the year I graduated high school. Since I walked away from an accident where I flipped over the hood of a car and smashed the windshield I decided she was my lucky penny and she was named “Penny”.
The fact that it is 100% garage built by my dad and I, that we took my vision and brought it to life just the two of us.
I’ve only had it on the road a couple weeks and the few places I’ve taken it she has been a real head turner. I’ve heard a lot of “amazing bike”, “awesome build” & a couple guys said it was the cleanest and best bobber build they had seen in a very long time. Those complements mean a ton esp for just two average guys who built a bike in their spare time.
