1960 Harley-Davidson FL

What was your intended objective when you started the build?

Restore it to its original glory with all original OEM parts.

What motivated you to start your project?

I got a call from someone that there is a rigid frame Harley for sale. I went to see it and found out that the son was selling is late father’s collection. There was a 1947 EL knucklehead and a 1960 FLH panhead. Both in pieces scattered around two sheds. A year later I put together the panhead as is and offered it for sale but nobody got interested so I decided to restore it. It is almost 100% original with all original major parts, frame, engine, transmission, sheet metal, lights, accessories, nuts and bolts. It took 6 months, and I am extremely pleased with the end result. It started on a third kick.

What was the most unique and creative thing you did to the bike?

It has some unique and very rare parts like the 1960 only dash with a neutral indicator light and a 1960 optional turn signals kit.

What are you most proud of?

Restoring an almost 100% original panhead.

What do other people say about your motorcycle?

They love to see an original Duo Glide that still looks and works the same as it left the factory.
