When i was a little kid, snowmobiling was and still is a big part in my family, the first time i rode a snowmobile i was 5 it was by myself on a 70’s TNT 340, i felt so alive! just me the woods the wildlife, and snow all around me, you could not beat the smile off my face for days! when i got a little bit older and got my own it was even more special, i was then able to leave and go for rides by myself, let me tell you something for being a kid at that age with a snowmobile it was bragging rights! even til this day i ride them and love them, i still get that feeling of being alive and free and one with nature as im zooming along the rail bed or a trail to my camp in the woods that brings back my childhood memories and floods my mind of how good it felt to be powder puffing, or ditcch banging or just trail riding! Them memories will never go away! But every year i make new one but none will compare to the first time i was on that snowmobile and felt my heart and soul become one with my snowmobile!
Great story Darren! Be sure that you go to the link called “Your First Ride” under the profile picture on our Facebook page to officially enter the contest for your chance to win the Caliber Trailer Shield. Good Luck!
My first ride was a trail bronk as they called it because it had really wide tires and a ski for the front tire. I was taking my sister for a ride (I know not the smartest thing to do) and came too close to a parked car, in the yard mind you but that’s a different family matter, and needless to say we ended up in the emergency room getting stitches. I can’t say this deterred me from riding but I don’t think my sister has been on a bike since.
Great story Dave! Be sure to visit our Facebook page and click the “Your First Ride” link under our profile picture to officially enter the contest. Good Luck!
My first Harley ride I was 42 oh last year and had lost my r arm and L foot to a work accident and finally had the money to buy my first bike! Never thinking I could ride in my condition my uncle started the fire by saying dude you can still ride I got faith in you and by this time I had faith in God and knew I could so I bought a fatboy. My wife flipped out I am not riding with you with one arm and one foot! I intern said what do I need to do she said build a Trike so I took 2 months in research cause I was missing the clutch arm and brake foot but got all I needed and my uncle his best friend and my self built my 2003 fatboy into a independent rear Trike with a recluse clutch for racing and put micro switches for turn signal and horn on my left floorboard and put it on the road! Needless to say it is hard to get me in a cage anymore 8567 miles put on my bike this year and less than 1000 on my truck !! I love the stares as I twist the wick and shift gears in the wind !! It has given me my mind back !!!
This is a very inspirational first ride story John! To officially enter the contest you need to visit our “Your First Ride” Contest on Facebook and follow the entry instructions. Good Luck!
Back in the mid 60’s I started riding on a Rupp mini bike, rode the tires off of it. My brother had gotten it and rode it forever then he bought a 69 Bridgestone Motorcycle. I got the mini bike. My grandparents lived about 4 miles from us and I would find excuses to ride to there house, on the highway. We lived in a small rural town, where I might add a state trooper lived also. He never bothered us. Finally I got my license and was so proud to ride up to the local grocery on my dads honda 350. I got off the bike, placed my helmet on the seat and went into the store. Permit in pocket. I wanted the “state trooper: to ask for my license. Instead he ask where my helmet was, I boldly said, ” on the bike”, he looked at me and replied, ” head as hard as yours after all the years on the mini bike, didn’t figure you had a helmet”. He never ask me for my license and I was SOOOOO disappointed. Been riding ever since. Ride a 2011, Ultra Classic and Have toured all 48 states……
Great Story Tammi! Be sure to visit our contest on Facebook to officially enter. Good Luck!
Well my riding started out when i was a mere 6 weeks old, My dad had a friend that bought the first T110R Triumph that was sold in Fayetteville NC at Maridian Motorcycle in 1954. Dad would strap a small pillow on the gas tank which had a rack on it and off we would go no helmets were required then. I ran across this bike a few years ago and tried to buy it to restore but was told it wasnt for sale. It was back at Maridian Motorcycles some 50 years later. The reason I knew the bike was the color which was not the original color due to a wreck involving a ditch. The owner was in the auto paint bussiness and he had the bike painted Emarald Green Metal Flake with #4 flakes that was a beautiful bike. My dad is now passed away but at the age ogf 57 i wish he was still here and had me on that tank with the breeze in my face
