Back in the day, sending your Harley parts off to get chromed was a major step in customizing your motorcycle. Then, as chroming became more popular, aftermarket companies started producing excellent chrome parts that you could just swap out your stock parts with. Then, chrome kind of took a back seat and many of those offerings started to dwindle.
But there has always been a demand for quality chrome parts. Chrome plating is one of the best ways to protect the metal underneath, allowing for great longevity while warding away rust. Chrome can also be easier to clean and detail because of its smooth finish. It makes wiping away grime much easier. The biggest reason the demand for chrome parts still exists, though, is because it just looks good. While it’s not the best choice for every build, it can look great on a lot of custom bikes.
One area that’s a great place to swap stock parts for chrome is the hand controls. The controls see a lot of action and are in a prominent position on the motorcycle. With that, they need to be durable, look good, and feel good in operation. Aftermarket companies like V-Factor work hard to develop products that deliver on all fronts. Their chromed controls do just that by delivering a great look and feel combined with a solid chrome plating.
