2014 Homemade/Proline 1000

What was your intended objective when you started the build?

This sled is the end result of a long decade plus mission of what used to be a totally homemade 4 cyl 2 stroke 800, or 1000 depending on what cylinders were on it. That was built in the early 90s, In 2012 Olav Aaen and ourselves set to revamp the 4 cyl engine. Off to Olav it went, He built the pipes, ported the cylinders, bored new carbs, fitted it to our old chassis, I made the mistake of no putting a bearing on the crank in the middle of our homemade 4 cylinder, which was 2 engines welded together, 3 cranks to make one. This was done by Jerry Danbom and several of his friends long ago. I rode the sled once down the test track. It twisted our chassis. Thats when we set out to get the proline built. Then i snapped the crank on the new chassis. So it then became a 1000 3 cylinder. It has over 320 hp weighs 256 lbs. All carbon fiber hood. all billet aluminum chassis.

What motivated you to start your project?

In search of a stronger chassis.

What was the most unique and creative thing you did to the sled?

Never gave up. HA, we have had a heck of a time getting this machine to work properly since it started as a 4 cylinder, years ago.

What are you most proud of?

It is a beautiful sled, sounds great, very fast, (Just never fast enough) it will go around 136 MPH in just over 4 seconds.

What do other people say about your snowmobile?

That its a beautiful sled, and that “need to get a different suspension under that thing”
