I just wanted to do something different and see if I could make enough power to keep up or beat some of the twin cylinder engines from the same era.
When I found out that there was a rotary engine from the early 70’s in sleds, I had to have one. I started by just riding the sled for a season. Probably put 150 miles on just ditch banging and bar hoping on vintage sleds with my buddies.
I’ve never dealt with rotary engines or carberated turbo charged applications. So the whole power plant was a learning experience.
I just wanted to do something completely different than any of the other custom sleds that I’ve seen. It’s turned alot of heads and has done well at the local sled shows. It actually performs as well. Factory power was 18HP and I’m estimating it makes about 35 to 40HP based on the other sleds I’ve raced.
Most people just love the sound of the rotary engine. I also here a ton of stories about people running old Wankel engines back in the day.
