1971 Johnson Rampage Blitz

What was your intended objective when you started the build?

To try to find and replicate a omc racer

What motivated you to start your project?

I saw many pictures of these sleds set up with a factory blitz kit and then I was hooked. I am a big omc guy so I set out to build one!! There were 60 kits made by omc I’m told but all were recalled sow they are very rare!!

What was the most unique and creative thing you did to the sled?

I hand built the super looper exspansion Chambers as well as front end from a template of a good friend!!

What are you most proud of?

The paint Wich I did myself in my garage and the pipes!!

What do other people say about your snowmobile?

They always say that omc never buomt that !  Or.its something I dreamed up !! But the real omc guys know what it is!!

Were would I be able to get a widening kit for one of those bad boys

  • John beaulieu says:

I had one of these when I was done with it once wanted all the add on parts back including the cylinders but I kept those took pipes off and slides but kept the porting and new reed system raced it was slow in comparison to ski doo and Polaris of that era remember I had to compete with ts 3 cylinder 440 but alot of fun except would blow pistons a lot .

my dad bought one of these from the original owner in 1988 and still has it to this day! cool sled! thanks for sharing!

  • John Beaulieu says:

I had one of the original ones I bought it in 1972 from a dealer in Caribou Maine it was raced but didn’t do well against the sleds of that era but I loved it although I bought a colt 250 single that would beat that sled in 600 ft.
