2005 Yamaha V-Star 1100 Silverado

What was your intended objective when you started the build?

To IMPROVE and EXTEND my riding experience, making it less painful to ride as well as being safer with much less stress and anxiety.

What motivated you to start your project?

I have a prosthetic hip with much pain (from a rock climbing accident) that reduced my riding time. Removing the ‘having to’ put my feet down when stopping and not having to fear tipping over I decided to convert my bike to a trike assimilate

What was the most unique and creative thing you did to the bike?

Added (what I call) a CMU- ‘Cycle Modification Unit’. Creating a unique and functionable set of ‘training wheels’.

What are you most proud of?

Creating a unique and functionable way to make my bike more ridable and easier to operate.

What do other people say about your motorcycle?

“WTF!!!” impressive, nice, awesome…(am just getting it completed and will get more responses once I get out and riding now that the weather is getting better).

I’m getting ready for hip replacement , hope I don’t have the same problems you spoke of ! Way to compensate , Nice build .

I’m sure your replacement will be less painful, mine had been shattered along with 7 fractures to my pelvis…so mine was a big mess. Thanks for looking and rating.

Specifics

Make, Model & Year: 2005 Yamaha V-Star 1100 Silverado
Fondly known as: It’s FAB!
Time spent: 30ish
Motorcycle cost: $3500
Money spent: $2000
Engine: 1100. N/A
Exhaust: Stock…had on ‘Cobra’s’ but though it sounded incredible was just too loud for me.
Transmission: 5 speed manual
Frame: Used 2″ tubular rein-forced steel for main frame, 1 1/2″ and 1″ for most the other.
Suspension: Torsion half-axle for independent and smoother ride.
Wheels, tires and brakes: Used 13″ 5-spoke cheap wheels- which will eventually be replaced with much nicer wheels when I can afford it. But these look nice and will do for awhile…gotta have some money to take a road trip come summer.
Accessories: Engine protector bar, strobe lights, handlebar risers, mirror extension, driver backrest, trunk, luggage rack, LED lighting, short torsion axles, etc..
