2002 BMW K1200rs

What was your intended objective when you started the build?

Run it on the Bonneville Salt flats during the Motorcycle Speed Trials (BUB).

What motivated you to start your project?

The bike was crashed but still straight with low miles and I just couldn’t see it parted out.

What was the most unique and creative thing you did to the bike?

I used, mostly, spare parts:  Honda 750 tank, trailer fender, Suburu fuel pump, Yamaha radiator, oil cooler from Summit…..

What are you most proud of?

Sorting out the wiring.  And it is freaking fast.    163mph on the salt.

What do other people say about your motorcycle?

Unless they are familiar with BMW K-bikes, they have no idea what it is.

    Well executed. Beautiful

I’ve got a K12RS in a similar situation and I’m going to make it a project bike. Is there anything you’d do differently or have any others suggestions for a similar project?
