1979 Honda CB650

What was your intended objective when you started the build?

To build a simple and fun cafe racer on a budget.

What motivated you to start your project?

A cafe racer bike seemed like a fun project that I could build on a budget. I also love the sound of a Japanese carbureted inline 4.

What was the most unique and creative thing you did to the bike?

Shaving the fuel tank badges and fuel cap lock. I ended up putting a hole in the gas tank removing a factory spot weld, but thankfully, my local radiator shop brazed it up for me!

What are you most proud of?

When riding this bike, I feel proud that I had my hands on every part at one time and if something breaks, I know I can fix it without bringing to a shop to plug it in to a computer.

What do other people say about your motorcycle?

My wife says “It’s very pretty!” She’s a sweetheart!
