1968 Harley Davidson FLH

What was your intended objective when you started the build?

Restore bike to the way my father had it in the late 70’s.  That plan rapidly morphed during the build after realizing how poor of condition everything was in

What motivated you to start your project?

My father bought the bike in ’73 and he rode it all over the country.  He sold the bike in ’89 to a friend to keep our house.  Years later, that friend, sold the bike to my step-father, brakes went out and bike got hit by a semi.  My step father bailed from the bike before it was hit so he was essentially fine.  Step Father rebuilt the bike and did a really poor job.  Step father passed away and biked ended up getting stolen from my ma’s place.  2 years later FBI found bike during a raid in another state and another 2 years later my ma got the bike back.  Ma sold bike to my father and father gave bike to me.  Bike has gone through to much to not be resurrected.  I have pictures and documentation dating back to the mid 70’s.

What was the most unique and creative thing you did to the bike?

Motor is close to factory original outside, just polished side cover and rocker boxes.  Motor internals are a different story.  84″ stroker, stock bore, .514 cam, ported heads, oversize valves, dyna 2000i ignition in stock looking distributor housing.  Built by Snake Iron Customs in Rockford, MN.

What are you most proud of?

My very first paint job using professional equipment and paint.  Candy Tangerine.
