It started with attending “The Race of Gentlemen” in 2019. I was hooked into getting a vintage motorcycle to race down the beach. So in November of 2019 I found a 1941 Indian 741 to restore. After getting it to the point of reliable running, I found that the 37 cu in engine did not have enough getup and go for me. I decided to build a complete new engine. I ended up with a blueprinted 58 cu in stroker. Now that had some real power! In 2021 I ran it down the beach at TROG completely undefeated. I then put it in the AHRMA Daytona bike show in January 2022 and took 1st place in historic and best in show
With some medical issues with my left ankle, I decided to find a dispatch tow rear end to mate with my 1941 Indian. I located a 1936 Indian Dispatch Tow rear end, did a complete mechanical restoration and installed it to my 1941 Indian front frame. Indian had their heads together back then to make Scout frames adaptable to different configurations. All their frames were two piece. Since the actual Dispatch Tow boxes are either very, very rare or just too ridiculously priced, I made my own version of the box and installed on the Dispatch Tow frame
I did ALL the work myself with the only exception of having to have a machine shop to size the cylinders to my pistons
Most persons seeing it for the first time are set back as to how motorcycles were built back in that era

Really nice. Color works well here but generally don’t care for yellow. Not knowing much about the original tow/dispatch I gotta ask, did they come with rear fenders? I think some light weight ones would look nice.
Thank you all for choosing my 741 Scout as Best Classic/resto Category winner for the first half of 2023 Garage Build Competition!
