ATV Charging System Parts

Your ATV’s charging system is fairly simple in theory. That being said, it can be frustrating when one of its components fails. The charging system works to power the electrical components of the machine (lights, winch, and accessories) as well as to charge the battery. This simple system includes the stator, flywheel/rotor, and the regulator/rectifier. Failure of one of these components can lead to multiple issues, but most importantly is your engine not running. When it does come time to replace a failed charging component, you want to be sure that you’re using high quality aftermarket parts. At Dennis Kirk you will find the best ATV charging parts from top brands like Ricks Motorsport Electrics, Moose, and Moose.

The ATV stator is integral to operation. When it starts going bad you may notice that your machine misfires or revs higher or lower than normal. These are symptoms of the windings in the stator going bad. The worst symptom is the machine not running at all. The stator creates the current that powers the spark plugs. When it fails, you will not get spark or too weak of spark to ignite the fuel mixture.

A common symptom of a bad voltage regulator can be seen with your lights. If your lights are dim or a flickering, there is a good chance that the voltage regulator is failing. Another symptom is other electrical components failing or not working properly. A bad regulator/rectifier can also ruin a battery if left unchecked for too long.
