I have bought 3 other ktis from other brands and was never satisfied with the overall look and cost. They were either cheap thin metal, horrid paint, and/or fell apart. This kit is the best bang for your hard earned buck. The kit comes with 4 bolts for the lic. plate, the plate mount, a plate to cover the hole where the existing plate holder was, and a new LED light with extra wire. When installed, it is hidden by the rear foot pegs when looking from the side, giving you a very clean look. Installation couldnt be easier, take 1 bolt off the rear fender, slide plate mount under, and reinstall the bolt (I am using an aftermarket CF rear fender with no issues). After that, just wire the LED light and you are done, which is fished under the kit and i zip tied it where the plate will cover it. **NOTE: I had to drill a hole in the undertail for the LED llight wire, its a very small hole and cant be seen from behind or from the side, but im sure it can be routed so you wouldnt have to drill a hole** I stand by this product and will not buy anything else for any future bikes since i hate looking at my lic plate.
The actual fender eliminator piece, the license plate bracket, and light are good quality products. However the turn signal lights are cheap looking and one of the wires in one of them was loose. I had to solder it back together before installing on the bike. After riding for 50 or so miles a wire in the other light came loose and had to be soldered.
This is a nice product but the instructions were very poor - epecially the section where you are instructed to cut your old fender away. The cut points were very ambiguous and not precise enough. This results in less than a perfect fit of the eliminator kit. The instructions could be improved by providing precise cut points and photographs.
I bought this to enable me to remove all the ugly bulky OEM fender and accesories. This Kit was a breeze to change. It think I lost 10 pounds in weight also. Now all I need is a Rear Hugger for my bike. I was surprised to see how different it looked after I was done installing this Fender Eliminator kit from Dennis Kirk. Can't beat the price either.
It has been noted on another post that for fitting the license plate wires, you need to make a hole. not a big deal, I am impressed with quality and the looks. One point, though. The kit came with a set of turning lights, and now I am trying to find the matching pair for the front. It would be great to get this warned when I was making the purchase. So if you read this, you are warned..dont miss it!!
