V & H Quiet Baffle P/N. 21899 MUST READ ALL!!!!!!
SET UP: 2011 road Glide Custom 96 C.I.D. With V & H Power Duels and matching Fishtail Slip-ons. REVIEW: Originally I had the stock HD mufflers on my scooter and really enjoyed the low vibration level and quiet exhaust, quiet enough to listen to my radio with ease. I replaced the mufflers for the Fishtail look. The stock V & H baffles were way to loud and caused way to much vibration so I installed the V & H quiet Baffles. I must say that I love them...They are a shade louder then the HD's but they have a lower pitched growl that is cool! I also noticed with the increased back pressure that my 6th gear throttle response had dropped down to 40 MPH.....I can actually ride in 6th gear at 40 and roll the throttle and accelerate with ease! Summation QUIET, SMOOTH, 5 STARS: INSTALLATION: Installation is a breeze! When you receive the baffles you will notice that there is about 1/2 to 1/3 to much fiberglass rolled around the baffles, which is good you have extra, unravel the fiber cut off the excess and re-tape. When re-taping make sure you tape in the direction of the wrap and that you fully tape both ends around baffle to prevent peeling when installing. After completed put the baffle back in the bag and put them in your freezer!!!!!!! Leave them in for at least 1-2 hrs. While you are waiting remove the old baffles, exhaust tips, or what ever you need to remove to install the new ones. Once done fire that scooter up and get that pipe nice and hot!!! Shut her down, put the frozen baffle in the exhaust pipe....Those baffles will be slicker than a peeled onion...they will plop right in!!! Put high temp lock tight on the mount screw and Bingo...DONE!!! Those baffles are basically made of the same material as your exhaust so they have the same coefficient of expansion!!! Freeze one! Heat the other! you will have ample clearance for an easy slide in fit!!! Enjoy the quiet rumble and role-on...... Oh yeah Dennis Kirk? Great Service..............I would recommend this item to a friend.
Images for this Review:
sounds like a Harley should without the annoying obnoxiously loud crackle of the stock python baffles. it now has a deep tone and just the right volume.I would recommend this item to a friend.
need to learn tricks to install.it did quite down a little.i did not like the sound at hwy. speed.I would recommend this item to a friend.
The installation is a few hard but it was worth the effortI would recommend this item to a friend.
As stated in the other review they go in hard and the fiberglass wrap wants to bunch up at the end of the muffler. I was able to turn the baffle in the same direction that the wrap went on and the first one went in fairly easy. The second one I had to unwrap the fiberglass from the insulation cut approximately 3" off the end, retape it and use the turning method again to install. Once the wrap clears the end of the muffler, just line up the set screw hole, install the set screw and you're done. They are quieter but not a dramatic change.I would recommend this item to a friend.
NOT AS QUIET AS YOU THINK
THESE ARE QUIETER THAN THE BAFFLES THAT COME WITH THE PIPES BUT STILL A LITTLE LOUD FOR ME. NO MATTER HOW TIGHT YOU TAPE THEM THEY STILL WANTED TO BUNCH UP. ENDED UP CUTTING TWO INCHES OFF THE FIBERGLASS AND THEY STILL WENT IN TIGHT. I REALLY DONT SEE HOW THEY COULD LEAK BUT YOU MAY WANT TO ASK VANCE AND HINES BEFORE YOU DO ANY CUTTING.I would recommend this item to a friend.
