Fitment for Vance & Hines Big Shots Staggered Exhaust System - 17911
I have an '08 HD FXD and spent about a year researching exhaust systems. I went to shows and checked out many different ones. I also listened to many different types. I decided on the V&H Big Shot Staggered for several reasons. First was build quality - excellent. Second was the sound - deep rumble. Third was the appearance - just right for my bike. Fourth was the price - not only the fact the Dennis Kirk was the cheapest, but you get a lot of bang for the buck. I highly recommend these pipes and that you buy them from Dennis Kirk.
I looked and listened to many different exhaust systems before purchasing the Big Shots Staggered. I installed the pipes at my 1000 mile service. The installation was quite easy, it took only a couple of hours in my driveway. They look and sound great, on my 2007 FatBoy.
Alot of people just rate these loud, I don't know if they sound different on different bikes or not but on my bike they are REAL LOUD, I don't mind the loud but the tone these pipes put out with the stock baffles is just a bit much for me, the first ride made my ears ring for almost 2 days and gave me a killer headache, again it was the TONE, not the loudness that bothered me. I also had no upper range torque with them stock, though low end and midrange were pretty good. I ordered a set of Hard Kore Baffles for mine and it made a huge difference in the tone and gave me some good backpressure, and really put my sound right about where I wanted it. The baffles did not make it any quieter just changed the tone and make it a little easier to glide through town without drawing alot of attention to myself unless I want to, then believe me, a little crack of throttle and all eyes will be upon you. These pipes look great and are pretty simple to put on just take time to read the instructions thoroughly. For the price of the pipes and baffles together I still have less than 500.00 in them and have a great looking, great sounding pipe, to me anyhow.
I read all I could and watched videos and solicited advice from applicable forums about the various exhausts for H-D. By a wide majority, V&H Bigshots staggered was the most recommended selection. I installed them myself on my 2011 FXDC with hand tools readily available in under 4 hours. Only part I bought was a standard O2 Sensor socket as it made removal and installation of the sensors a snap. $10 at O'Riley's Auto Parts. A remap of the ECM via a dealer download was necessary afterward to eliminate the rough idle. Sumary: fine pipes, easy install, and I now have a deep Harley sound. THey are quite a bit louder than stock. Dennis Kirk was good to its word and beat a low price I found by a buck saving me nearly $200 from other sources. Jen was fabulous in helping me complete my order quickly.
The installation was easy and the one piece design is great. I love the full heat shields with the tips which finish the look. I already had the quiet baffles in my old slip-ons so I moved them over to these pipes and the sound is great. Just a tad louder than the slip ons. DK had the best price I have seen on these and fast shipping.
Just put the big shots on my 2010 wide glide. They are freakin loud. Have and awesome rumble. These pipes are going to rattle your neighbors walls, but they look awesome, and turn heads. Happy shopping, but I reccommend these!!
Just installed my new Vance and Hines Big Shot Staggered Exhaust System. Fit and finish were really great. Haven't been able to start the bike yet so still waiting to find out sound and performance.
Was disappointed in the fittings that are provided for OEM Oxygen sensors (fuel injected models). Instructions detail moving re-installation of sensors into Vance & Hines exhaust and found it very difficult to install sensors into fitting bosses. Did not appear that thread size was correct. One sensor eventually installed, but was afraid of damage to threads in new pipes for installation of other sensor. Not a good situation. I will also contact Vance and Hines and inform them of the problem.
Finally the rumble i was looking for on my 2011 Dyna Wide Glide paired up with the Power Commander V and Kuryakyn's High Five Mach II Intake! Thanks DK for the great prices and great products! Easy to install!
I put a set of these pipes on my 2011 FLSTSE2 and they sound great. The bike runs better then it ever did with the stock exhaust. If you own a CVO pull off the stock Harley pipes and send them to the landfill where they belong.
I went to bike week and biktoberfest in search of pipes and to listen to other bikes to find the sound I was looking for and I found them in the Vance Hinds. Unfortunately all the vendors including V-H couldn't even come close to Dennis Kirk's pricing. By ordering online I save over 200.00 on the pipes and another 40 on taxes. AND I got FREE shipping and they arrived like promised in 3 Days from Minn.!!
These pipes are a perfect fit on my 2011 Wide Glide and really compliment the lines of the bike. They are loud, but sound great, and I will probably end up going with the quiet baffles in the near future.
Make sure you install the O2 senors BEFORE you install the exhaust because V&H is bad about letting chrome build up on the threads and it will likely need to be re-tapped to get the O2 senors to screw in (and DO NOT touch any part of the business end of the O2 sensors as it can ruin them). This is the reason for the 4 stars, as the fitment of the exhaust was 5 stars.
loud off a idle..but cruising around town nice deep tone everyyonneeeee notices... but at high way speeds 65-75 mph 2800 rpm-3300 rpm they dont annoy you...massive power gain from the drag pipes i had...love the 2-2 pipe look but the function of a 2-1...
Have a 2011 Heritage Softail. Put on other mufflers before these sounded okay. Vance and Hines sounds even better. Great sound when starting, a little loud but very nice on the road. I did put in the quiet baffles after trying them out. Now very nice touch to my bike.Ordered on day and they were on my bike two days later. Installed myself was very simple,Just follow instructions.Took about two hours.
Shipment delayed a little by price match guarantee but product delivered with matching price minus one dollar. Install easy if you follow direction. I tried short cuts, they do not work follow all directions and installation can be done in a few hours. Looks great and sounds even better. Performance enhanced. Great product and DennisKirk employees great to work with
My Dyna Lowrider woke right up with these pipes. They sound Friggin awesome. Loud but not obnoxiously loud, mixed with a nice bass rumble. Definately worth the money. They were a bit tricky getting around the jugs on both sides but any one with any mechanical knowledge can do it with no problem.
There are lots of pipes out there. This is the 3rd set I've purchased. 2 for softails, 1 for a Dyna. These pipes look great, sound great, and hold up in horrible climate. ( I live in the Fla Keys. Salt, heat, humidity, etc. NO pitting! As long as you have ECM mods these are the Sh-t!!!
I have a V&H system on an other bike and really like it so when I was looking to upgrade my WG I shopped around and settled on V&H again. Installation was easy, overall fit and finish is excellent. The pipes have a great soud, if you live in an area where they're sound sensative you might have a problem if you have trouble with throttle management. I've purchased other items from DK in the past. To date all orders have been on time and exactly what I ordered. I've heard DK has a great return policy but I've never needed to use it. With confidence I recommend this product and DK.
I ordered the pipes and received them within a couple of days. I was very satisfied with the pipes, installed them myself with some basic hand tools and a set of Screaming Eagle Exhuast Gaskets. Pipes sound and look great. Also, best price I could find.
First off, the pipes arrived at my door very quickly. Install was straight forward and the sound was just what I was looking for. I think the quiet baffles would have taken away too much of the sound. These pipes are great the way they came!
Received quickly, Installation was easy, and then there is the magic moment when you start the engine! WOW what an awesome sound ! Not sure my neighbors will agree, but I think it sounds like music! Okay, maybe HEAVY METAL !!! But music anyway!!! I notice a fair amount of mid-range power increase, and did I mention the sound. YA! YA! These pipes ROCK !!!
Best pipes on the market. I had these installed at my dealer along with getting my bike Dyno-ed. Made a tremendous difference in performance. People can not hear you coming for sure. I highly recommend them. Installed on a '07 Wide Glide.
I purchased Vance and Hines Big Shot Staggered on a Saturday and they arrived the following Thursday. I installed them quickly without a hitch. A little too loud for me so I purchased the quiet baffles. They sound great and have a deep throaty sound. Love them.
Just installed on my 2010 HD Wide Glide, and they are awsome. Sound great, look awsome, and gave the bike a vary noticeable increase in performance! Also installed the Vance and Hines fuel pack. A great combination.
This system is outstanding in many senses, and stay years ahead the factory one... Although, despite the great sound it deliveries, I am purchasing the quite baffle from V&H, due to get noise more acceptable to my neighborhood.
I purchased these for my 2007 Harley FXDSE and they are a great addition. The only issue I ran into was the O2 sensors threaded holes had to be chased with a thread chaser which I have put in my recommendations. But not much work if you have the tool. The pipes look and sound amazing. Dennis Kirk had the best pricing by far so no use looking else where and they shipped them for free and very fast as well. Very happy with the purchase. You will not be dissappointed. My bike is completely stock and does not need anything in addition such as a fuel pack which they recommend as well but the fuel injection is able to compensate for the difference.
One of Vance & Hines best-looking and performing set of pipes. The powerchamber-crossover lets the 110 motor in my Dyna FXDSE breathe like it should, with less restriction, to help reach its full potential. And the sound is deep and throaty. Dennis Kirk's price was the lowest I found on the internet. Extremely satisfied.
