Great Replacement!

September 3, 2012

I replaced my OEM seat because my dog decided to eat it one day. Price of the Saddleman was similar to OEM and I liked the comments. Like others have said, it does sit a little higher, but being over 6' the added height makes the ride more comfortable when using the factory pegs. Now if we could just get Honda to put a little more space for my feet the bike would be perfect.

I would recommend this item to a friend.

So far, so good

June 4, 2010

The seat was delivered on the day promised by the Dennis Kirk web site. I had to figure out how to get the old seat off and new one on (there's no instructions - It's a little tricky). New seat is stuffed more than original Goldwing seat, so the seat is no longer adjustable front-to-back. It used to only move about an inch forward and back anyway, so no loss there. I ordered the seat without backrest because I have the pivoting backrest bar mounted to the cycle frame. The old backrest barely fits now since new seat is thicker. I had to remove a couple of brackets from the old seat and attach them to the new seat, which was easy, since the new seat had the screw studs in already in place for them. I'm guessing you have to remove the staples from the old passenger backrest and re-staple the new cover on. I just put it over the old cover for now (it's too short to get away with that for long). I'll take a look at replacing the foam in there and putting the cover on correctly very soon. I used to be just able to put my feet down flat-footed but am a little bit tip-toed now (I'm 5'9"). I guess there is a little gel in the seat cover, but over-all the seat is very firm. I rode bike this morning for 2 hours in heavy rain and haven't decided yet if it's too firm. I can only compare it with the 26-yr. old seat that used to be on the bike which had very tired foam in it. The rear passenger seat is 3 inches wider than the original seat, which is good for older butts. The additional seat thickness (height) should help the passenger legs to be less cramped. I think the firmness will be a benefit on a long trip. I may still get sheepskin covers to soften it up a bit.

I would recommend this item to a friend.
