I received this jacket as a xmas present and was pleasantly surprised. Since I live in the south, I had been interested in a true "mesh" type jacket for awhile. This jacket is solidly built and has many usable features (liner, etc.). To be honest, I have not worn this yet while riding (it is too cold outside for a vented jacket). However, it appears that it well serve me well in the hot summers of Louisiana! One note of caution - I wear a large in all of my riding jackets (Joe Rocket, specifically), and this jacket was WAY too big in a large. I exchanged it for a Medium - Tall (I am 6 ft/185 lbs/slim - athletic build) and it fit perfect. I went with the "tall" because I am long in the torso and my arms are long. I hope this review helps you in your decision. BTW, Dennis Kirk was awesome about the exchange/shipping/etc. Great company!!!!
This is my second one of these jackets. This is the jacket you want if you ride in a "hot" climate. I'm in Texas and I have worn out my first one after three years and two motorcycle accidents. I can tell you that the mesh contruction will save you the pains of road rash in the event you go down. I had not a scratch on me after my accident and I was very greatful. I really like the idea of being able to remove the rain and quilted liners to ride in the summer and still have the mesh and armor to protect me. It prevents sunburn on the arms too! Tall sizing is a plus too!
Well I have this for a few weeks now,all in all a good buy.The weather hasnt gotton the hottest that it can get in the south yet,but from what I see it will def get some air moving through it to keep me as comfortable as possible
this jacket is the only way to go,without the liners the air goes right through the mesh like its not there, you stay cool even in the hottest days stuck in town traffic, you can pack the liners in your saddle bags for later if it cools down after dark. This jacket alsto looks great fits well.
I love this jacket. Definitely worth the money and I would recommend it to anyone. The wife like it so much she mead me get her one. I’ve been out with it from 30d to 80d and have been very comfortable. I don’t think I’ll wear it much over 80, but I tend to like it on the cooler side.
This thing is totally awesome! Well built, nice looking, and just the right balance of comfort and protection. The hard armor can be easily removed, but I chose to keep mine in. It doesn't feel bulky or gets in the way. You can take the liners out and use the jacket in the hottest of days and you will have some serious air movement. If it gets cold, just start putting the layers back in as needed. I live in Minnesota and this jacket has been used in all the seasons here. Great product. You will not be disappointed!
This is one of the most versatile jackets on the market. It has great padding/protection in the elbows/shoulders/back, but is still very easy to move around in. I purchased it solely for cold weather riding and it keeps you warm no problem. With the removable layers I found myself wearing it in hot weather as well. The picture on here doesn't do it justice, the red/black looks awesome. The neck clasp is awesome, so many jackets have a clasp that pinches your neck in some way, but not this jacket. I am 6' tall and a Large fit me perfect. Overall a great jacket, good work Tourmaster.
Customer service and shipping was absolutely perfect. I was looking for a warm weather mesh type jacket and pants for longer distance touring. Even with zip vents my present gear was hot. After reviewing several jacket models in the catalogue, I decided on the Tour Master Air Intake because it incorporated good protection with a full mesh body. The fact that it had extra components for rain and cold was an additional benefit. I ordered the jacket, Venture Air pant, and Sentinel jacket and pants for rain.
I have more of a stocky body style, about 5'7" around 195 with a 45" chest/38 waist. When I read the reviews and specs, I decided to go to a large jacket, xl/s pant. It looked like the jacket may fit large and the xl pant fit a 38 waist.
I received the box within 3 days on the Thursday prior to labor day. I had a trip planned for the Tuesday after labor day. I put the jacket on and, although it would go on it was too tight. All components were in the jacket. I removed the waterproof and insulated liners but the jacket was still snug, especially considering that you would need something under the jacket from time to time. Althought there are adjustments at the waist, they are only to tighten the waist and there is no elastic. The protective pads also make the jacket more heavy than I anticipated for a mesh jacket, but they are too important to leave out. The arm adjustments worked well to allow the pads to be positioned properly on the arm. The liners can be a little tricky to install but after practice they go in easily.
Dennis Kirk was very easy to work with for the exchange. I had my new box on Tuesday morning in time for my trip. I changed to an extra large jacket and xxl/s pants. The new sizes fit well.
This is a great jacket for moderately cool weather
I live in Texas where it doesn't get too cold too often. When it does get cool riding is difficult because of the humidity mixed with the cooler temperature. This jacket cuts all that out. It is extremely well made and looks very durable. It's a comfort when I'm riding as well. I will see years of warmth from this jacket. Thank you
I really like the jacket. Breathes well and the armor fits where it should without being overly restrictive or bulky. My only complaint is the sizing. According to the sizing charts I should need an X small but the x small was too short in the sleeves (although the rest fit pretty well). I got the small instead and fits very comfortably.
