Thunder-Max 309-362 DK 209076

June 14, 2012

Great product. Bike runs very good with increased power. Works as advertised. It's far superior to the other tuners out there. Instructions are good and can be downloaded from the Thunder-Max web site and looked over before purchasing. You get what you pay for, It's a bit pricey but the end result is a product that works and auto-tunes the engine so you don't have to guess at adjusting the map yourself.

I would recommend this item to a friend.

T MAX 309-362

November 8, 2011

Not what I expected, did not have a map close to what I have. Not getting the milage I was expecting, not even close to what the stock ECM was getting. It does provide a lot more power, can't use the extra power because it causes the clutch to slip. Only been using for a week, will let it go for a few weeks but if the milage don't get better I will contact the guys at T Max to be sure there is not something I missed causing the milage issue.

I wouldn't recommend this item to a friend.

Great tuner

April 29, 2011

This is the best tuner I have bought yet. Installation was a breeze. The pdf manual has lots of information on the functionality of the system. My bike runs great and I can change to new performance parts when I want without having to pay a dyno tech to reprogram the computer. I wish they built one for my Hot Rod truck! cons: The connectors are really big and hard to hide. The base maps are a bit to generic, however with the autotune feature the computer adapts quickly. I went with a K&N air intake kit and V&H Big Shots staggered exhaust, now my Dyna takes off like my crotch rocket!

I would recommend this item to a friend.

2009 Street Glide

August 6, 2010

I installed on 2009 Street Glide with vance & hines power dual with monster ovals. Very easy to install yourself with a little bit of mechanical knowledge. A bit pricey though.

I would recommend this item to a friend.

Not Perfect, But Better Than Stock

June 28, 2010

Great but my biggest complaint is that the maps are too general. I really think there should be more options, as my pipes (BUB Jug Huggers) were not listed in the map options. That's fine, but nothing similar to them was listed. I chose the True Dual exhaust option, but I still have popping. I've spent a lot of time adjusting the map and timing and still haven't pulled off a good map. I really think, for something this expensive, Zippers needs to dyno and map more exhaust options. Most air cleaners have the same affect, not so with exhausts. Also, advice on the most appropriate target AFR for XYZ type of riding would be welcomed. For example, I do a lot of commuting but also like to have fast acceleration power and don't care all that much about gas mileage -- I just don't want to run too rich. What AFR? There isn't any advice on the net and Zippers should provide this. I have the version with a serial cable. The cable connection to the Thundermax unit is very fragile. I really think a more robust cable connection is necessary as this cable will end up in toolboxes, not clean rooms. Finally, I don't know if they've updated the plug connections or not, but they are too big! Dynas have little wiggle room for 1-inch wide wire connection plugs. Otherwise, it's pretty easy to use the basics. It has more powerful features that Zippers doesn't make any effort to train you on. I think, for the price, I should be getting a medium-level difficulty training manual on making tweeking adjustments. The whole point of this is to avoid going to the dealer/dyno shop over and over... so help us! I'm glad I have it in as my bike runs better overall. The stock ECU left the bike running weird and too lean, even after a Dyno tune at an independent shop with the SERT. I also have a bad habit of being unable to decide on an exhaust... I'm sick of dyno tuning... it should not be necessary for Stage 1. Unit voided my warranty with a nice healthy lecture from my HD dealership.

Thundermax w/Autotune

October 14, 2009

The Thundermax unit is an excellent bolt on to replace the stock ECM. Tuning does require some basic knowledge of being able to use a computer, (installing software, cable, configuration, etc), but once installed, it's basically a hands off unit..or your can 'tweak" to your desire. There is a known bug in the unit which affects some, (mine anyway) where the ECM will lose connection to the speedometer. The workaround is to cycle the ignition. Not an ideal solution, but zippers is aware of the problem, and is continuing to find a solution for the affected units.

I would recommend this item to a friend.
