Last Year I hit the handle bars and broke three ribs after just one impact, this year I have hit the bars three times once even put me on the ground for a bit however I didn't even crack a rib even the bruise was minor. I know that if I hadn't had my Tek Vest on it would have been like the 2009 season out for three-four weeks. Last year I would have paid $600.00 cash to be able to sleep at night. It only takes one time before you learn the hard way, I did anyway. Any open motor sport, HP junkie should have a Tek Vest.
A friend of mine got run over by another riders' picked-up sled. This vest saved his life! The EMT's were pretty happy to see he had one of these on. He still got messed up pretty bad, but he's still alive. Had to get one of these myself, and hope I never have to see how well it works. Safety is my motto. I like the fit. Roomy enough to not feel constricted. Fast shipping, too.
The Tekvest is comfortable to wear while snowmobiling and is a great safety addition. After an initial hour, you forget you even have it on and will become part of your regular gear. Fits pretty true to size. I like the Freestyle better than the Super Sport based on "lightness" and comfort in warmer weather. If you are always riding in cold conditions, you may like the Super Sport. It comes down to personal preference. I've also tried the Trail Pro. I think the Trail Pro has the best fit around the body if you don't mind pulling it on and off over your head (i.e. no zipper). One disclaimer is I have not tried other brands of chest protection to compare fit and feel but I like my Tekvest.
This is an awesome vest that fits nice, doesn't ride up while sleddin', or feels too bulky. I bought it with the shoulder pads, which i think is optional, but it adds extra protection. It completely covers the rib cage. Only con is if I take a handlebar to the sternum, the zipper is down the middle. I wore it riddin' in the mountains and it felt cool and comfortable. Highly recommended. I was skeptical because of the price and lack of styling, so i also tried the new Alpinestars A-8 as well, but it didn't have quite the protection around the rib cage. Although the A-8 is a very nice vest, I chose the Tekvest.
