Very comfortable boot right out of the box. Classic TCX fit that has a little more room in the toe box than many other brands. I used the laces once to set the fit and then have only been using the zip to slip them on and off. They are a little tighter slipping on and off than a full height boot but it's fine. Given their height, I thought that my feet were kept fairly cool given the full leather upper. Commuting in stop and go traffic in 80+ degree weather and I thought they were cooler than my full height TCX boots. They offer about the same protection as many other boots but without the height. So you lose some of the shin protection but you gain a much more livable boot on and off the bike.
I really like this boot but there are a few things I question. Pro's: Well made constructions, actual color is a bit darker than shown could almost pass as a dress shoe. I find the boot to be a bit wide in the front however a heaver sock will probably correct that. Overall the boot is very comfortable. Cons: This boot is warm my first time wearing it was a 55 degree day rode for about two hours and my feet were damp and that is with smart wool light weight ski socks. If your going to build a boot this nice use Gore-Tex I have yet to find a waterproof barrier that breaths as well Gore-Tex I doubt if I will be wearing them much in the summer months. My other complaint is the side zip. First off the whole purpose of a side zip on a lace up boot is for easy on and off with out having to un tie them. Maybe it's my big feet size 13/48 but there is just not enough fabric in the waterproof barrier to open them wide enough to put them on with out un tying them. Also zipper on the left boot can be a bit finicky. I am seriously considering returning them as I just cant see my feet staying dry especially in the summer months. .
