1999 Arctic Cat ZR700

What was your intended objective when you started the build?

To end up with a nice sled that I know is done right and will keep up with just about anything for the first 50 feet anyway. LOL!

What motivated you to start your project?

I’ve always liked the ZR chasis. There fun and I’ve heard many talk about how junk the 700 is. I figured I’d try something with a little challenge.

What was the most unique and creative thing you did to the sled?

There’s a lot of vinyl wrap on this. I left the epoxy exposed that was used to fill the cracks in the hood from a prior incident.

What are you most proud of?

This sled was 100% garbage when I got it. The suspension and twin pipes where completely rebuilt. 60% of the pipes were cut off and replaced. All new mounts, glacier silver cerakote with stainless steel heat shields. Customized 2 into 1 muffler, the exhaust wrap was an afterthought.

What do other people say about your snowmobile?

Looks clean, put together nice, and FAST!

Fondly known as: Green Bean/One man rocket

Time spent: Couple hundred, not done yet

Snowmobile cost: $200

Money spent: Approx $2000

Engine: Builder – Me, myself and I HP – guessing around 115

Intake: Good old asperated carbs. New ones to be exact. The old flat side mikuni sliders were rattling around like an aluminum miroco’s. Paid way to much for a new rack but it sure made the difference

Exhaust: Custom/rebuilt D&D’s twins. Glacier silver Cerekote ceramic paint with hand pounded stainless steel heat sheilds wraped with DEI header wrap. I also added dual EGT digital DPG-SD pyrometer gauge.

Drivetrain: Completely rebuilt Arctic Cat 9 tower. Machined out all bolt hole sizes to M8x1.25. Recut the shiv faces. Black Magic black/green 117-295 with 54 gram cat wheights with blue D&D secondary spring. 15×120 1.25 Shotgun X track with 144 1.075 gold digger track master studs.

Tunnel/Chassis Modifications: Nothing yet, I already have a new seat cover and plan to repaint the hole tunnel this summer.

Suspension: Stock for now, needs new front shocks and springs.

Brakes: Willwood all the way, good brakes

Finish – Paint: All Arctic Cat OEM colors with vinyl graphics.

Accessories: New LED’s all the way. Like the the LED running lights up underneath.
