1981 Yamaha Exciter 440

What was your intended objective when you started the build?

Rebuild it as close to OEM as possible.

What motivated you to start your project?

Childhood memories. I sold the one I had back in the early 90s and wished I hadn’t a few years later. I looked off and on for quite a few years, then found one that was worth driving to look at; and brought it home!

What was the most unique and creative thing you did to the sled?

There wasn’t one thing that I can say was unique or creative. The whole build was creative due to the limited availability of parts for a 1981 limited production sled.

What are you most proud of?

Pretty much the whole build and how close I was able to get to the original OEM sled.

What do other people say about your snowmobile?

Usually first thing is what year is that?
Second is, wow that thing is really awesome.
It’s not always what is said…. The thumbs up from people riding or standing watching me ride by is pretty cool!
