1973 Yamaha SR433

What was your intended objective when you started the build?

Bring the old girl back to life

What motivated you to start your project?

When I was a young sledder not old enough to drag race myself my father and his two good friends raced and I always remembered this sled. Mr michals always kicked butt on this thing but never would sell it years went by but the memory of this sled never passed so I and my father hunted him down and at the age of 83 he still owned it long story short he finally said he would sell asked him if we could look at it thinking it was in a garage on a pendastool .lol not even close out behind garage with a little tree growing thru it so a long drive home and a lot of hours here it is

What was the most unique and creative thing you did to the sled?

Getting the hood to look so good after the condition it was in

What are you most proud of?

Just doing everything on our own

What do other people say about your sled?

That’s the same sled .noooooo way

These are awesome sleds. My dad bought his in 1972 and it was in the import embargo on a ship. He then purchase a 1973 295 mod 1 thunderjet. Today’s date it’s in our pole barn needs to be redone I have the original sales receipt original paperwork from Yamaha parts book pictures and slides of trophies that he is one across Michigan back in 73 74 75. Can remember being at these races as a kid he’s unable to ride now my quest is to get it running for him one last time awesome job
