The reason I purchased this bag is that I ride a HD Deluxe. It has no sissy bar. I was able to securely rest this bag on the passenger pillion of my bike. It's shape rests it perfectly on the pad and it overhangs to rest on my saddlebags. I put everything but the kitchen sink inside, even my laptop. I'm talking seven days worth of clothes, extra pair of shoes, some dvd's, a couple of books even! I own Saddleman saddlebags too. For a long trip I absolutely recommend this bag. As for the brand, in my mind, you can't beat Saddleman.
This was a purchase that solved a major issue with my wife. How can I take more in a lower, more compact travel bag? This tail bag solved that problem. I would recommend this bag to everyone. The mounting of this bag is simple and very forgiving. This tail bag wedges itself down onto the passenger sitting as illustrated from Saddlemen. The only issue we had was that there so many different ways to mount it this bag.
I own an '08 Meanie SE. I wanted bags simply for utility, and only wanted them on when they were to be used.
By the time I would get a decent set of bags that would fit my bike with QR brackets, I'd have $600 into it easy (Edge is about the only viable option).
My load typically consists of groceries, 30-40 lbs per trip. I drive my Ram Hemi as little as I have to.
I saw this 'alternative', and thought I'd give it a shot. I'm sure glad I did. With only a slight mod to the rear straps so I can use the helmet locks like boat cleats, the fit is perfect, tight, and very stable! 30 lbs is not even noticed. (This doubles the recommended load, so, I'm not endorsing that you load them that heavy...but, I do).
Sure, it's not the most stylish option out there, but likely the most functional. And for $ per cubic inch, it's an amazing value.
It holds its shape perfectly when empty, and goes on and off in seconds.
And besides that, there's still plenty of room below for those Edge bags if (or rather when) I can no longer live without them.
My only regret is that DK was out of them when I wanted to order, and I had to pick them up elsewhere. If you can wait, go DK...best price and great service.
Received oversized package. Outside box was in OK condition. Original box was damaged and smashed on left side. Box shows that is was wet at some or another. Bag does not show any damage but rigidness is alittle weak now, since it was flattened on the lower left saddle area. Fit nicely over solo rack and can be used without detachable sissy bar.
This Luggage is Awesome i used it on an 1100 mile trip and it held up great it kept my clothing dry and we got soaked it also sat great on my luggage rack and was easy to take on and off the bike we pulled up to a hotel i had it off in under a minute and my buddy was still farting around with his luggage 5 minutes later. Also dennis kirk had this pakage to my house within 2 days as promised.
I bought this bag for a trip I took recently and I have to say I'm very happy with it. I put this bag on top of a tail bag I have on my Sportster with a solo seat. It fit nicely and was very easy to strap down to the bike. It takes only a few minutes to put on or take off. It also didn't move hardly at all even after a full day of riding. The size was also a great feature. I was able to fit everything I needed for my 3 day trip with room to spare. I like the fact that it's expandable and has pockets all over so that you don't have to open up the main area every time you want something. My only problem was there was a small separation on one of the seams on the bottom of the bag and the lack of a rain cover. Overall I would definitely recommend this bag especially for the money. You can't beat the size, ease of install, and versatility of this one. If you need a good size bag at a great price that can fit any bike with or without a back seat/rack this is the one for you.
I searched high and low to find the best bag for the money. This is it. So many manufacturers give their bags more room by making them taller - the wrong way to go on a motorcycle. This one holds a lot of luggage but still has a very low center of gravity. It's rigid, so you don't have to worry about it interfering with the mechanics of your bike. It's not waterproof, but it comes with a rain cover. The only downside is that it makes it a little cumbersome to get into your saddlebags if you have them. It fits perfectly on my 2007 Honda VTX 1800T. I would definitely buy this again.
If you're looking for something that has the room to pack anything and everything you need for a long trip....this is your bag. Great construction, perfect fit on M50. Saddlemen is all the way around my bike now and this bag was the perfect addition to close it out. I've got the room to go anywhere for as long as I want!
I recently purchased this bag after a lot of research trying to find a bag that holds enough gear for several days of riding and without breaking the bank. This bag fits both those requirements and then some.
The bag sat perfectly on my HD Street Bob. It comes off and on within seconds. Lots of room (I had 3 days worth of gear, and had plenty of room to spare). The price is far lower than I expected for a bag of this quality and functionality.
Overall this is excellent for the price! I have a Kawi Vulcan with an extra wide Mustang Touring seat and this bag fit like a glove! It is the right size and has plenty of eye loops to strap on even more gear!
The overall design did confuse me a little at first with the main centre opening facing forward (but it fits just the same backwards)... I would most certainly recommend this as an alternative to the sissy bar bag (for those of us who would rather not have a big thing on the tail end of our bikes).
I purchased this bag for my 2015 Softail Slim and it fit perfect with very little adjustment. I never quite figured out how the straps were supposed to work but with a little thought I was able to mount this securely to my bike and ride over 1000 miles and it never budged!! And I was amazed how much I could fit into it. This bag has allowed me the freedom to be able to travel and camp without having to rely on someone else to carry my stuff!!
