I ride a 2013 Triumph America 865 cruiser style motorcycle.
I originally purchased the Mustang and then the Saddlemen seats with backrests.
The bottom Line is I returned both seats for similar and different reasons.
Since were talking seats and fitment issues,I'm 5'10" 180 average build.
In my opinion, both manufactures "phoned it in" in the design of these seats. Yea, they fit, but they don't fit the style of the bike and both significantly change your seating position from stock.
Both seats will raise your ride height 4 to 5 inches, defeating the purpose and style of this motorcycle. With my stock seat, I look thru my windshield about 3 to 4 inches below the top. With both of these seats I look over the top of the windshield by about 2 inches. This height difference placed me directly in the turbulence of the windshield. UNNACCEPTABLE!
The Mustang will raise and move your seating position forward. This is great if your a shorter person. I found the seat of the Mustang to be extremely firm and after an hour of riding I had to get off the bike. After only a 2 hour ride, I had sore spots the next morning.
The Saddlemen seat will raise and move your seating position back, which is great if your a taller person, however I found that once I had adjusted the backrest to a comfortable seating position, I was no longer able to reach the handlebars without stretching. (I had to adjust the handlebars up for both seats due to the increased height) The Saddlemen seat was a much more comfortable seat..
Both seats offered a very comfortable backrest with sufficient adjustability. Both were good looking seats and appeared to be well made.
Both seats needed much more thought into the design and fitment for this motorcycle.
Thank You again to the folks at Dennis Kirk for their wonderful support.
