was a bit concerned about price initially, almost $200 on a seat for a 25 year old motorcycle is a bit much. but after receiving and inspecting the seat, realized it was well worth it. installation was easy considering I had never done a seat before. and it transformed the goldwing into an ALL DAY ride. I highly recommend this to anyone who truly wants a very comfortable riding experience. go ahead BUY IT and enjoy, you wont regret it !!
To anyone considering a Saddleman Seat from Dennis Kirk, you can not go wrong. The customer service from order entry to receipt of shipment was superior. Not only was I surprised at the service level, the quality exceeded my expectations as I priced this unit out at several places and saved $120.00 over the nearest competitor. The low price actually put me on guard to expect a whole lot less. It has been a pleasant surpise doing business with Dennis Kirk!
Got the seat for my 1986 Yamaha Virago. Perfect match to my seat pan. My seat uses staples so the install was easy. It does take a bit of stretching to get it over the pan but you would expect that for fit and finish. Rides great! Firmer than the original but that's a good thing. I've read some reviews saying you sit taller with this seat. It's not so much that you sit taller it's because you sit wider that your stance is not as close to the body of the bike as before, therefore, you need to be able to spare an inch or two in your stance to feel comfortable. I'm only 5'6" and I'm still flat footed so it didn't seem like a big deal to me. Overall, it's a beautiful seat that I would recommend to anyone looking to replace that old seat on their retro ride!
Not being experienced with upholstering or seat repair didn't pose a problem. The foam and cover were a perfect match to my pan, and the single sheet of instructions were sufficient for a novice to do a passable job. Very nice replacement option compared to complete seat swaps.
I bought this seat for my 1975 Honda CB750 Super Sport. It is extremely big. Doesnt look like it should be on my motorcycle. However, for the price it is excellent quality. It is very comfortable and I can imagine long road trips will be really nice with it. Buy only if you prefer comfort over looks... like I said, its huge. Also, mine came with no instructions... I like to have instructions on how to mount it. Anyway, overall a really nice seat!!! You wont be disapointed!
I bought this bucket seat for my 85 XV Virago 700. The seat offers better back support and helps reduce back fatigue but I found a surprising added value to the seat that is unrelated to comfort. I normally ride sports bikes and find it difficult to duplicate the levels of control on a cruiser. This bucket seat allows added control and feedback from my Virago very much like a bucket seat in a sports car does!
So go for it for comfort and enjoy a sportier ride too!
I "m very satisfied with not only the product but the staff I delt with on the phone . my purchase went smooth and In a matter of minutes It was done . I also received it in the time they said it should arive. theres no doult in my mined that i will be purchasing more with dennis kirk in the future. you don't mined spending your with a company that treats you so well!
Switched out the stock 1979 seat on my XS1100 with King/Queen seat by Saddleman. On the firm side, should last a ling time, easy to install. Perfect for lead-butt riding, very comfortable. Nice to be able to get parts for an old bike with a lot of life left.
Fairly easy to assemble using pneumatic staple gun set at 55 psi with 1/4 " wide crown staples. Material stretches easier if left in sunlight for an hour or so. Really improved the overall appearance of my 1983 Honda Goldwing GL1100A. Very satisfied with my purchase.
My only real complaint is that the seat tends to force you to sit in a forward position...that is not really what I want in a touring seat. That being said, it is more comfortable than the original seat and has extended my riding time before I get sore.
